Corry Zondergeld (Rotterdam, 1970) was admitted to the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 1991. She successfully graduated in 1994, with part of her final work exhibited at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague.

After completing her studies, realism began to take a more prominent place in her artistic practice. She honed her drawing skills and deepened her understanding of anatomy by sketching at the medical faculties of the universities of Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Amsterdam.

Between 2007 and 2010, during classes with master painter Matthijs Röling and through working with model Geke Hankel, she discovered a deep love for the "wet-on-wet" painting technique. She realized that the vitality of a painting lies in direct brushwork where quick decision-making naturally develops a strong sense of form, tone, and color. When a piece calls for it, she isn't afraid to use a palette knife, though the brushstroke always remains central to her work.
